A new national poll shows that due to COVID-19, many families will avoid distributing candies this year.

A poll conducted by Leger and the Canadian Research Association found that 56% of Canadians would not open the door to trick-or-treating people on Sunday night.

The same poll found that more parents allowed their children to go out for Halloween this year: 93%, compared with 57% last year.

Leger and the Canadian Research Association conducted a survey of 15,000 Canadians between October 22 and 24. No margin of error was assigned to the survey because this is an Internet-based opinion survey and respondents are not considered random.
